The Central Illinois Communication Association proudly hosts regular professional development opportunities for our members.
CICA takes advantage of local connections and knowledge available from the communication professionals in our area. Our members come from nearly every sector–education and nonprofits, hospitality and small businesses, and everything in between. And that network makes for great opportunities to connect and share insights.
Fall Workshop
Every fall, CICA hosts a one-day professional development experience around a communication theme. In 2025, we explored: “The Human Advantage: Communication, Collaboration, and Productivity.”
Think Tanks
Twice a year, CICA members join forces and participate in a think tank exercise, working together to brainstorm ideas and identify solutions for an industry problem.
Speakers
CICA offers regular workshops, hosted by a variety of communication professionals. From panels and speakers to table topic discussions and more, we always provide ways to share knowledge.
Professional Development Grants
As part of CICA’s ongoing commitment to the advancement of the communications field, this grant has been designed to aid in the professional development of CICA members, including workshops, professional conferences, continuing education courses, etc.
Grants are available up to $300 within a term year (renewing each August). After review by the Professional Development Committee, grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants will be notified of the decision within 30 days of submitting an application.
